My childhood was filled with these cheesy but still mostly entertaining and enjoyable movies, that were somewhere between the low bar of middling Disney Channel quality and the production highs of a full budget live action Disney film like Mary Poppins Returns and Pirates of the Caribbean.Films like the ones mentioned in the title plus more like, Holes, Tall Tale, The Santa Clause, Homeward Bound, Air Bud, Max Keebles Big Move, Jungle 2 Jungle, Flubber, Mr. Magoo, Meet The Deedles, The Big Green, Operation Dumbo Drop, Sky High, Princess Diaries, Kid In King Arthur's Court, First Kid, Blank Check. Even the older stuff like the Herbie movies, Shaggy Dog, and Apple Dumpling Gang. Monkeys, Go Home!, Million Dollar Duck, That Darn Cat... basically, anything with Dean Jones. And there's clearly a lot more I'm missing. The point being there was a lot of this style to choose from and today I struggle to think of our most recent option of something like this from Disney... G-Force? Old Dogs?None of these films were groundbreaking by any stretch of the imagination, and I'm sure nostalgia has put a lovely filter over plenty of them for me. So I can see and understand why films like these aren't a focus for being put into theaters lately, but I'm hoping with Disney creating new content for its streaming service, that we'll see some fresh takes on stuff like this in the near future. via /r/movies http://bit.ly/2UCbzOI
