Name a movie you watched just to kill some time but turned out to be really good

For me it was Edge of Tomorrow with Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt! The whole premise of being dead and woke up again at same time felt a bit too familiar to me at first..but man the execution of the film was really really good and I was throughly focused watching it! I think by now I have seen the film about 4-5 times already!Another one was also Whiplash! What do you think about Falling Down (1993)?

I watched it this morning for the first time and it was great. Great performances from Michael Douglas and Robert Duvall. Joel Schumacher doing his thang, being a fucking top notch director. Some parts were a bit "movie-like", like when Prendergast confronts D-Fens at the end. What did y'all think about the commentary? Stuff about not being "economically viable" and the plastic surgeon living in luxury while the defence dude is paid peanuts? The whole "The American Dream is a lie" shabang. What’s the deal with pretty much every movie (and TV show) having weird sound mixing that goes from soft to deafening in an instant?

Virtually every single movie or show that I’ve ever watched in the last few years has strange sound mixing that goes from very quiet, such as when people are talking, to very loud, such as when explosions go off. This has remained constant for me no matter what streaming platform, player, console, TV, etc. that I use. All of my friends notice it as well and nobody knows why it is or how to fix it.Interestingly it doesn’t seem to be a problem for video games so much.This is very irritating to me because you have to either sit there with the remote in hand to constantly switch the volume around or keep it very low and put subtitles on since you can’t hear most dialogue. It makes watching anything in an apartment very difficult.What’s the deal with this? Am I somehow using the wrong sound setting? Or does film and TV just have shit sound mixing across the board?
