Why has Steven Spielberg "disowned" Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (and what are your thoughts on it)?

I think his attitude is ridiculous. He's made much worse movies, including Kingdom of the Crystal Skull which makes Temple of Doom look like Citizen Kane. And in truth, Temple of Doom is a pretty good chapter of the series which takes greater risks. It's the closest we get to see Spielberg do a Horror movie after "Jaws" and it was a reminder on how good he is at creating a atmosphere of dread and we even get a dash of gore (the heart removal scene). We get to see Indiana Jones turn evil for as brief time, his best sidekick with Short Round (and in truth, Short Round should have been the son in Crystal Skull, not Biff or Butch) and even Willie Scott, whom so many hate, I found to be amusing as a fish out of water.Of what I read, Spielberg hates this movie because he was going through a rough time in his personal life and a lot of the dark stuff in Temple of Doom came from his anger and he also thinks there's a lot of racist stuff. The thing is, Temple of Doom is racist. Let's not forget that the infamous dinner scene happened at a lair of Devil worshippers, it wasn't saying all Indians eat Gorilla brains and eye-ball soup, the impression I got was that it was within these lunatics. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/3zZYQKy
