Movies where a character actor gets a shot as lead and knocks it out of the park.

I’m looking to make a list of movies where long time character actors get a shot as the lead and just kills it with a great performance. Bonus points if it’s a movie that led to them moving up to the “next level” in Hollywood or something where they become more of a known name after.This is slightly different than a character actor’s “breakthrough” role. They need to be an actor or actress that makes you say “oh, it’s her” or “that guy from those things” every time you see them. So like a Stephen Tobolowsky or Elizabeth Marvel type.
