Just randomly popped up on my tv today and I started at watching at the perfect time. The middle of the movie drags a bit IMO but everything on Scarif is just fantastic. I’m sure it’s been said before but it really felt like a well-done war movie that just happened to be set in the Star Wars universe. I’m also not sure if it’s just me, but the ending made me much more emotional than I expected. I appreciated that all the characters died during my initial watch but their deaths really impacted me a lot more this time. I don’t know if it’s because of everything going on, but seeing a group of people put the greater good above their own well-being was legitimately very moving for me. Everyone willing to sacrifice their lives for such an important cause really impactful. And Jyn’s speech about the need to get the Death Star plans was great! It didn’t really do anything for me the first time around but it actually felt inspiring this time around.Seeing the initial sparks of the Rebellion was really enjoyable too and did a great job of emphasizing that the Empire are the bad guys. It can be easy to glorify the Empire a little because of the general aesthetic and Darth Vader but I think this movie really cut through a lot of that. I was definitely one of the people who thought the Vader scene at the end was fucking amazing when I first saw it but seeing it again, I couldn’t help but feel the dread the Rebels felt instead of awe at Vader’s power.Anyway, would love to know what you all think! via /r/movies https://ift.tt/3q6aMp3
