Moneyball (2011) is an amazing film

As someone who knows absolutely nothing about Baseball, I went into this film with an open mind. And wow... I was absolutely blown away. This film isn't really about Baseball, I mean it is to an extent, but really it is a broader commentary on the brutal and unforgiving nature of business, redemption, regret, self worth and family. Baseball is simply the medium by which these things are explored. It was a very immersive film, and I've always been a bit critical of Sorkin's snappy dialogue, but in this film it's far more restrained, if not completely non existent. The dialogue feels very real and restrained, and Pitt and Hill disappear into their roles.I know some people criticized the whole daughter angle, but I think this was essential. Billy Beane himself has actually said in interviews that the daughter aspect was essential in the film and really conveys just how important she was to him, and I think it's done well in the film as it isn't beaten over our heads.Just a phenomenal film.Edit - its available on Netflix US and UK if you're interested. I thoroughly recommend it. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/3dxlv6B
