Watched Apocalypto (2006) the other night and I found it to be entirely engrossing without any big name actors and with the whole film subtitled. Yes the action scenes are a bit contrived but the world of the film is both entirely foreign while being accessible. I wish we had more moves like this - an un-Westernized story of other cultures made with a big budget with great visuals and story telling. The sets felt extremely tangible and the atmosphere of the Mayan city was so believably done. I will definitely be watching it again and would love to know if anyone has any other recommendations for films similar to this movie!DISCLAIMER - yes I know Mel Gibson is not the nicest person in the world and this came out right around the time of the DUI incident, but still the man knows how to make a good film and IMO this one takes risks in all the right places. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/2Rm4F0k
