My wife and I were watching the seminal classic Shrek on cable today. We got to the scene where Donkey begins to sing "Friends" by Bette Midler. "I'm all alone...there's no one here beside me..."When he gets to the end of his shtick and sings "But you gotta have friends!" I heard something unexpected. There was a brass musical cue that almost made it sound as if a full song would break out, but is quickly and comically cut short by Shrek interjection "STOP SINGING!"I was quiet and sat for a second thinking, "I never caught that when I watched this as a kid" I looked over at my wife who had a pondering look and I began to speak and we both shared the same thought at the same time.I panicked and began to think this was some Mandela effect, Berenstain Bears-esque mind play, so I immediately hopped online to make sure I wasn't going crazy.I found this clip on Youtube of the version we remembered, no music cue. Just Donkey Singing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pop0chIeR0YThen I found this version that's listed as being a Blu-ray rip:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YuUeNsZgmycThere's the new cue! After digging some more, the only documentation or explanation I could find is here, which notes that the Blu-ray release added some more music cues : https://ift.tt/3cyvuaM curious as to why this change was made, as it struck me as something George Lucas might do, but why go to the trouble of editing Shrek? I'm curious if anyone has any more insight or info about changes made to Shrek. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/3bpjVB1
