Just rewatched Her (2013) because it popped up on my Netflix feed... Such a strange, well acted, and uniquely disturbing film!

I saw the film when it first came to home release in prob 2014, but upon seeing it again today I was just blown away by the great cast, the creepy and intriguing story, and the depth of the acting. The voice acting is particularly striking. Scarlett Johansson (and later Brian Cox) manage to convey so much with their voice. (SPOILER) About half way into the film when they "break up", Theodore is put off by Samantha using the sound of "deep breathing" or sighs as a form of communication and language despite the fact ehe doesn't need to actually breathe. Later, after "accepting" herself for who she is" instead of trying to be what Theo wants her to be she essentially creates a new set of parameters for what love and relationships mean to HER, in the form she exists in, basically detaching herself from her "humanity".It's this wild concept that all of these great actors manage to express so well. ScarJo is just fantastic. Joaquin Phoenix has always been tremendous, and this is simply another example of his greatness 7 years ago, and he was great 7 years before that in Walk the Line too!And the whole cast is on point. Can't forget Olivia Wilde, Chris Pratt, Rooney Mara, Amy Adams, Bill Hader, Mristen Wiig, Brian Cox, Spine Jonze, AND Portia Doubleday (in a REALLY REALLY interesting conceptual character! A woman wanting to be the avatar for a loving relationship between man and machine!).Thought provoking, well written and acted flicm I'm glad I finally rewatched! via /r/movies https://ift.tt/3bi7zeb
