I just finished the latter of the two movies and thought I should post about it on this sub.I get that this isn’t traditional Sherlock Holmes. Heck, I even performed in a drama club play that was as time appropriate as you could get, and played as the man himself. But I have to appreciate the way Ritchie took on these films with a different action adventure feel to it.The first one was a delightful surprise to me, as I wasn’t expecting anything at all out of it, and I found myself immersed in Holmes’ adventures and his thought process to get out of sticky situations. The two films, Sherlock Holmes and Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows seem to be notorious for putting the mystery on the back burner. While this may be true, I still think there’s a solid storyline that you get from it even with the action. The first movie was a great take on the mystery of Holmes’ quest to prove that a seemingly all powerful man is just full of tricks, and the film executed it wonderfully. The second is quite the same, with Holmes having to face his evil opposite, and the path he takes to outsmart him. Both movies have a great taste of action and still hold up with a fun mystery as well, always wondering how Sherlock Holmes will solve the case.I am by no means saying these are perfect films. I am well aware of that. But I believe that both of Guy Ritchie’s takes on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s iconic British sleuth are actually pretty great. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/3dA16g1
