My wife will NOT talk about a movie once we finish watching it. How do you cope with that?
So, perfect example was tonight - we watched Avengers: Infinity War. I gave her the general gist from the movies she missed and she had already seen a few others so she knew majority of the back-story.We watch the movie, full start to finish.no phones, just pure absorbent.Movie finishes, and all i get from her was a "that was a good movie". Thats LITERALLY all she had to say about it. Like, what the hell!!!!And its not just this, ANYTIME we watch a movie she doesnt talk about it after. No plot debate, likes dislikes, acting quality, cinematography comments, if the score was appropriate.NOTHING. How do i cope??Edit: This post was made with light humor. Love my wife and our differences. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/342kAGQ
"Tommy boy" turns 25 today
Tommy Boy is a 1995 American road comedy film directed by Peter Segal, written by Bonnie and Terry Turner, produced by Lorne Michaels, and starring former Saturday Night Live castmates and close friends Chris Farley and David Spade. This was the first of many movies that Peter Segal has filmed with former SNL castmates. The film was shot primarily in Toronto and Los Angeles under the working title "Rocky Road". It tells the story of a socially and emotionally immature man (Farley) who learns lessons about friendship and self-worth following the sudden death of his industrialist father. The film did well commercially, but received mixed reviews from critics. However, since its release, Tommy Boy has become a cult classic due to being very successful on home video. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/2WUkm2V
What movie were you most looking forward to only to be let down?
Mine is the third Hobbit movie (why the hell are there three of those things anyways?). An Unexpected Journey was mediocre, The Desolation of Smaug was bad but I just lived in denial because I'm a huge fan of the books/LOTR movies so I thought things would improve. When I watched The Battle of the Five Armies though, I couldn't even pretend that it wasn't crap because when my friend asked what the plot was, I couldn't even remember it. The movie is so bloated with nonsensical storylines, unanswered questions, and random characters that absolutely no one asked for. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/2UPOklN
A Texas theater shut down a few weeks ago. This week they decided to turn their outside wall & parking lot into a drive-in theater with free screenings & carry-out food for sale. Every ticket through Tuesday has been sold out and the theater is planning on adding additional showtimes to meet demand.
People are concerned about this year's releases being pushed back but the real void is gonna be the following 2 years
I see a lot of people talking about how this summer most big blockbusters are being pushed back and demanding a vod release etc. Thing is that, yeah, they're gonna release those movies eventually, then what? It's not like anyone is making other movies right now! I mean Hollywood has a few that are ready for release and another bulk in post production which can all be finished and released while working at home but after that there not gonna be much else.As long as the quarantine is in effect there's no filming. So a few of them that were shot are gonna make the 2021 release while others that stopped production are probably gonna be pushed back as well. So the real void in blockbuster movies is gonna come around 2021 - 2022. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/2wT9ozQ
If Sonic is the last movie I get to see in theaters, I will go insane.
Don’t get me wrong I actually enjoyed the movie and so did my kids. However, I have been looking forward to seeing more movies this year and I can’t go to the theaters. My wife’s last movie was Onward with me and the kids, also a decent movie. We are ready to see some grown up movies however ! Our 15 year anniversary is tomorrow and we were looking forward to seeing A Quiet Place 2. I hope this pandemic ends soon so we can get back to enjoying movies in the theater! via /r/movies https://ift.tt/2Jtyhou
True Romance (1993) is an absolute work of art.
Never seen it before, and Holy shit what a movie. The cast is insane, Christian fucking Slater doing his thing, Christopher Walken just blowing up every scene... Everyone awesome is in this movie. The writing literally fucking sparkles and cackles like electricity. The story is so textbook "ordinary person in extraordinary circumstance" and so perfectly executed ... The cinematography, the freaking costumes! I could not believe Tarantino wrote it, Tony (ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!!!!) Scott directs... I could go on. Dear lord what a gem. I am so grateful right now. When Bronson Pinchot showed up as Elliot I was already exhausted from the cast. And almost 30 years ago. I can't believe I never saw this movie. I'm freaking out. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/2Jtg3DQ
Brad Pitt won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in a category where he was the only actor playing a fictional character. Has this ever happened before?
Brad Pitt won for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.Others in the category were Joe Pesci (Russell Bufalino), Al Pacino (Jimmy Hoffa), Tom Hanks (Fred Rogers), and Anthony Hopkins (Pope Benedict XVI). Quite the collection...I just noticed this and wondered if it had ever happened before. A quick look through Wikipedia has me thinking it could be a first - at least for actors. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/3avG9BV
Watched "Lucky Number Slevin" at the weekend and I thought it was fantastic!
This appeared on Prime video and I deeply remember it coming out 20 years ago but missed it back then.Didn't expect much and, wow, this is a great movie! Really feels like a Guy Ritchie style movie with a great cast and solid plot and pacing. The only criticism would be the casting of Lucy Liu who didn't really work for me and I expected a better 'twist' from her character. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/2JoEkef
Bone Tomahawk is one of the best westerns I've seen.
This is easily the most gritty and intense Western I've ever seen. I legitimately cannot think of another Western that made me feel such horror at the lives of those who lived in the old west. I know the Troglodytes are overaccentuated Indians, but holy fuck I'd be horrified to run into them. In addition, the decision to not have a score or soundtrack throughout any major part of the film added an intense amount of suspense and brutality. And of course, there was "that scene" and man, it's just horrific.I've watched all of Zahlers films and I honestly have to say this is his best one. Brawl in cell block 99 was awesome, but I don't think it matches up to how good Bone Tomahawk was. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/3arEj4U
Total Recall with Arnold Schwarzenegger
I just finished watching "Total Recall" with Arnold Schwarzenegger, in my opinion it's one of Arnold Schwarzenegger's best movies, and in particular I noticed that Arnold has done a disproportionate amount of science fiction movies. I think Terminator 2 might be his #1 best science fiction movie, but I'm also a big fan of Predator and Totall Recall. This most recent watching of Total Recall has me thinking that maybe this is his best science fiction movie after all. It's way better than I remember. Extremely imaginative. Surprisingly better acting than I had remembered (some of Arnie's best, that is of course relative though given both him and the genre, but still it's noticeable), some of the most original story-telling and the vision of life in the future as presented in this movie is really cool. Anyone else having any thoughts on it? via /r/movies https://ift.tt/3bvTES0
JoBlo's latest youtube video is a complete re-edit of a smaller channel's video - I've seen them do it before too, those guys need some quality control.
I'm a Spider-man nerd, so I click on a video, and five minutes in I've counted at least ten edits lifted from another video I've watched a few times that went out months ago. Example: @ 3:10 on JoBlo's video - : https://youtu.be/hFcIWnnbLtA is cut from 9:50 of this one - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4fjRHwY1qQU and so on.I know both videos are talking about the same subject, but jesus, the words are even the same, except the JoBlo one is rushed and inferior. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/33Wbdbx
It's really sad that Joel Schumacher is known mostly for the bad Batman movies and not for the amazing "Falling down"
With all the lockdown stuff going on I've been looking to find some movies I might have missed and found myself on Schumacher's IMDB page. I had already seen Number 23 and Phone game (solid movies) but never heard of Falling down.I was really surprised by how well acted and well done this movie is. It reminded me of 25th hour.Sure the story is simple and a bit "edgy" but Michael Douglas and Robert Duvall are both super convincing. If you're like me and never saw it before do yourself a favor and go watch it. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/39lDAB2
Oldboy (2003) is absolutely fantastic!
SPOILERS ahead! For those that would like to stream it, I did it via Kanopy. It's a free streaming service with waves given through a library card or university email (provided that they take part in Kanopy).Hooolllyyyyyy shit what a great movie! The action, the scenarios, the twists and turns, the acting, the camera work, the music, everything! Seriously, this is one of my favorite movies now and I just watched it yesterday. The story is so well told with incredible pacing and twists that make me feel so giddy inside for the movies!! What do you guys make of that ending? During the sobbing? On to watch The Handmaiden. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/3bB9bjH
Have you ever watched a movie so good that you immediately rewatched it once it was over
The first time I watched Shawshank redemption was when it was still on Netflix and I thought it was the greatest movie I'd ever seen so I just rewatched it as soon as it ended. Never felt compelled to do that with any other movie. With other movies I usually wait at least 6 months before watching again via /r/movies https://ift.tt/3bCVjFM
Bill and Ted. Like Keanu, it has aged well.
OK - couple of "gay" jokes aside, this is awesome family entertainment. My kids (13,11,8) laughed like drains and then started arguing about if they had time travelling powers what they would do. The mall scene is peak 80's. They even learned a bit of history and our new family motto is "Be Excellent to each other".Bodacious movie for excellent 10+ year old's everywhere. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/2WPFpDx
Actors who hated each other so much that it constantly disrupted filming
Bill Murray and Lucy Liu allegedly got into a fight that shut down filming for a day on the set of Charlie's Angels.Channing Tatum and Alex Pettyfer in a Magic Mike. I don't recall Alex promoting the movie, and he was almost non-existent in the film's marketing. Pettyfer has talked about his feud with Channing later on.As usual for her later years, Bette Davis hated everyone on the set of "The Whales of August" and made everyone's life miserable. However, when she want launch into one of her rants, sweet little old Lillian Gish would just turn her hearing aid off, infuriating Davis all the more. But Davis still managed to score off Gish on the set:LINDSAY ANDERSON (the director): "Miss Gish, you've just given us the marvelous close-up!"BETTE DAVIS: "She should have! She was around when they invented them!"Gish did not say one bad word about Davis during the filming until it was all over and she was interviewed for 'People.' They asked her what she thought of the behavior of Davis (who had had a terrible stroke a few years before and had partial facial paralysis for the rest of her life), and Gish replied, "That face! Have you seen her face? What a tragic face!"Marlon Brando made director Frank Oz' life a living hell on the set of The Score and refused to shoot scenes unless Oz spoke in his Miss Piggy voice when directing. De Niro directed some of the scenes with Brando instead of Oz. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/2wC5k7j
Anybody else get really emotional when a scene or a movie/tv show is just so well put together?
Over the past few years I’ve noticed that sometimes I find myself forming tears when something is just so good. Wether it’s the acting in a specific scene or the perfect placement of music or even sometimes just the cinematography. It’s never sad tears but like a little chuckle accompanied by a few tears because of how good it is.I have no idea why I do especially since it’s never sad, or something that ‘should’ make you feel emotional. It could be a series of beautiful shots or the acting itself even just a twist that’s been so well thought out but it’s always something that shouldn’t typically make you teary. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/2xA5bRz

Behind Enemy Lines, a solid movie with surprisingly good performances.
Owen Wilson especially turns in an amazing performance as a downed pilot. It is so unlike most of his other performances. There is one scene, especially, where he narrowly misses an evacuation. His frustration, anger and desperation are so raw and real.I love this movie, I think it's criminally underrated. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/3asbcP2
Choose 2 Movies and get a suggestion
Name 2 movies you love, get a suggestion.Got this idea from r/books. Just comment 2 movies that you really enjoy and others will list a third movie that they think you would like, based on the 2 movies you named. The two movies you name could be from the same genre or from totally different genres, just pick any 2 you enjoy and let strangers pick a movie that they think you might enjoy. Dark Waters (2019) should be required viewing. DuPont are criminals.
They knowingly poisoned 99% of the human population with their garbage. Cancer, birth deformities, deaths. Its a well made captivating movie that should be required watching. Its sickening how cruel these corporations are.And even then, people get suckered into rallying for them because they provide jobs.........just in exchange for your health and well being.Guys like Rob Billot are heroes. They take the crap of being the first through the wall but they still press on.2019 was a fantastic year for movies which showed dedicated people fighting injustices to their own personal detriment in order to do whats right and they should all be seen :Dark WatersOfficial SecretsThe Report via /r/movies https://ift.tt/39qsGtF
