Clearly the commercial and mainstream success of the MCU is what's really cemented this style of action, adventure and comedy as the formula for nearly every big blockbuster mainstream film these days. But before they took off with that, l don't remember any film l'd seen that had the big budget sprawling adventure comedy that's half serious/half wacky cartoon the way that the first Pirates movie did and l definitely remember the wave of films that came afterwards that attempted to capture that tone for years all the way up until the first Avengers. There'd been plenty of films before Pirates that were either adventure movies with comedy or comedy movies with adventure, but l don't recall one that blended them together in the way that was anywhere near the blockbuster success that this was.Was this the movie that knocked the first domino down the path of this style of movie? via /r/movies https://ift.tt/30J8gHY
