"Starman" is so good and shows what John Carpenter could have accomplished had he branched out of Horror

I never understood why Carpenter made so many Horror movies when he seems more into Westerns and if you ever watched his interviews, he's got a diverse knowledge of film. In the 70s, he worked in different genres but then got the Horror label stamped on him after Halloween and from then on, he limited himself mostly with horror with the occasional diversion, be it Starman or Escape from New York, both excellent sci-fi movies, and in Starman's case, a touching love story. Credit being given to Jeff Bridges and Karen Allen's chemistry as well as Jack Nitzche's moody, somber score. It's such a marvelous movie. It did modestly well at the box-office but Starman developed a following afterwards and Bridges got nominated for Best Actor. Deservingly so though I wish Allen had been nominated as well. via /r/movies http://bit.ly/2I2uv5C
