Movie tropes: Kill the head baddie and all his minions die.

I was talking with a friend about Endgame and how it managed to avoid an annoying movie trope: Kill the head baddie and all his minions die. This definitely happened in Avengers (2012) when Ironman blew up the mother ship. We started wracking our brains for examples and where this trope came from. I remember it happened in The Phantom Menace with the droids and their mothership. We then hit on vampire movies like the Lost Boys. I wonder if it started with that? I've not read the classic gothic novel of Dracula; does anyone know if this idea started there or did it come along later in one of the adaptions?Do you actually mind this concept as a convenient end to the plot or is it just dumb? Or perhaps it is all in the execution. via /r/movies http://bit.ly/2IugRHC
