'Colossal' (2016) caught me completely off-guard and I really enjoyed it.

Somehow I'd managed to completely miss this film.Judging by it's meagre >$4 million takings, I guess I'm not the only one. Anyone know what went wrong? I'm assuming there was just no marketing, but even then, you'd expect it to have redeemed some of it's value.Even Dredd, which is often considered the r/movies milestone for fucking up its marketing made three times as much. And the cast for Colossal is far more high-profile. I mean, not the top of the A-List, but you'd think Anne Hathaway and Jason Sudekis could bring in a decent crowd. You'd certainly think that $4 million is barely covering their wages.Anyway, pretty damn enjoyable movie. It's the sort of thing that studios don't take a chance on anymore (apparently for good reason). It's one of those off-beat films that was satisfying to watch because it tried to be a little different. It wasn't perfect, but it didn't follow one of the four standard formulas that seems to get thrown around at the moment. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/2IRUVth
