Short Term 12 (2013) is an incredible film filled with up-and-coming stars

This is a film I don't see talked about nearly enough. It has a whopping 98% from rottentomatoes with 160 reviews, but didn't receive a single nomination from the Academy Awards. What strikes me most about the film, however, is its unbelievable cast. I was looking over it recently, and I was surprised how many major stars got their start working on this movie. Brie Larson had been around TV and had some big roles, most notably Scott Pilgrim, but this was her first opportunity to really shine. John Gallagher Jr. has gone onto some big movies, such as 10 Cloverfield Lane. Then you have the likes of Rami Malek and Lakeith Stanfield--some of the biggest rising stars in Hollywood who were nobodies before this movie. Stephanie Beatriz from Brooklyn Nine-Nine also got her first ever acting role in the film. I also wanted to give a shout out to the film's editor, Nat Sanders, who has gone on to edit Moonlight and If Beale Street Could Talk.So yeah, if you haven't already, go check out this amazing film which continues to influence modern Hollywood. via /r/movies http://bit.ly/2RUZRg6
