I know this movie wasn't for everybody, and certainly it's not something I would have watched if not for the early reviews and positive reports it received from the festival circuit. But looking at the competition this year, and seeing Eighth Grade completely ignored by the Academy, BAFTA and SAG and only receiving one Golden Globe nomination, reduces my confidence in these academy members.Aside from being snubbed by them, just look at how many awards/praise this film got:AFI Top 10 Film of 2018Writer's Guild of America Best Original Screenplay nomination99% Rotten Tomatoes (236 positive, 3 negative)24 different state/city critics either nominated or awarded various screenwriting/acting/directing awardsFinally, in what world is Black Panther or Bohemian Rhapsody more deserving of a Best Picture nomination than Eighth Grade?Should at the very least have received a nomination for Best Original Screenplay. My favorite movie of 2018 easily. What a terrible year for cinema in general. via /r/movies http://bit.ly/2DLzzba
