What the fuck is it with the Big Lebowski fandom?

Yesterday my buddy and me had the weirdest cinema-trip of our lives.Local theater showed The Big Lebowski. By chance we already saw this a month ago and reserved seats. Good decision as the theater was fully booked. We havent seen the movie before, so we thought that was a good sign.It all started the second we entered the cinema. Half the audience had a bathrobe on. Now the act of wearing a kind of cosplay to a cinema-showing of a movie you love, aint that weird. Just that so fucking many got the idea to do it. But I wrote it off as a hardcore fandom. Before the showing things got weirder. Strangers interacted with each other. Being all Irish-hostile in the sense that they do insult you, but dont intend to attack you. People would throw an insult, laugh about it and move on. This freaked me out as it happened with different groups, that obviously didnt know each other and we live in Switzerland. Interacting with a stranger? In a cinema? That is incredibly un-swiss.But the real creepy shit happened when the movie started. The things the audience did during the movie include but are not limited to:loudly chuckling during a scene that didnt have a joke in it.making a comment like „Man this guy“ and laughing like Tommy Wiseau.losing their absolute shit laughing like a maniac.saying a dialogue right before its said in the movie and the audience erupting in laughter.saying the wrong line of dialogue and the audience erupting in laughter after the correct dialogueloudly singing along to a songWhy is all this so creepy? Because only one audience member would do one of these things while the rest of the theater stayed silent. And it would repeat with different people. Not once in the movie did 2 guys chuckle at a non-funny scene at the same time. It would always be one person. And the next time another person.I mean imagine the lady next to you lets out a chuckle at a scene not involving a joke. And in the next non-funny scene the guy infront of you does it. And the next time the person behind you and so on and so forth with all the things I listed. And the audience would also never react to this shit. Its like they didnt even notice that some girl just laughed like she was the Joker. Now I loved the movie but I will never again watch it cinemas. The fans are weird yo. Weirder than bronies. Weirder than furries.I seriously questioned if this was an inside joke in the fandom or something.Edit: Important disclaimer. I am not attacking or criticizing the fandom.Edit 2: I am loving all these references. Keep em coming Im really enjoying it! via /r/movies https://ift.tt/2QItWmH
