Back in 2014, director Steven Soderbergh, shared his own cut of Raiders of the Lost Ark in which he converted to black-and-white, removed all of the dialogue, and used music from Trent Reznor throughout the entirety of the film.

“Gremlins 2: The New Batch” (1990) is the best satire film of the 1990’s

Gremlins (1984) was a critical and pop culture success from the moment it released. As Christmas themed black comedy, it stood out as one of the great 80’s kids films. Grim and genuinely scary, the film would help push the MPAA to establish the new rating of PG-13. So, what about the 1990 sequel? The New Batch is certainly an odd film. It completely departs from the darker horror themes of its predecessor and is generally considered a more “kid friendly” film. This “kid friendly” label is ascribed not because it is less violent and more because it is significantly more campy in its violence. This film is packed full of camp. Everything about it is cranked to 11, and that is what makes it a phenomenal satire. To start, the film has an unbelievably Star-studded cast. Christopher Lee, Howie Mandel, Hulk Hogan, the beautiful voice of Tony Randall, and others. In particular, Tony Randall is delightful to watch on screen, and every scene with him stands out all the way through. The film also has some of the most impressive practical effects of all time. Coming out at the very beginning of the CGI era, the film goes hard into very costly and beautiful practical effects. These practical effects are key to its satire of 50’s and 60’s horror B movies. No words I can use will quite describe the beauty of this campy sendup to old horror, so I highly recommend you watch or rewatch this film and have an amazing popcorn night. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/3fb63MP

Hunt for the Wilderpeople (2016) is exceptional

I don't have much to say other than: wow, what a delightful fucking movie. My wife and I have been fans of Taika Waititi since Thor: Ragnorok and especially after we saw Jojo Rabbit. We've really enjoyed everything he's done but HftW is by far my favorite of his.I'd love any other recommendations of his or movies/filmmakers with similar styles. Can't wait for his next project. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/3f9auI4

Hugh Grant is amazing in “The Gentlemen”

I just rewatched this one to kill some time. As always, Ritchie delivers great characters and a really well-written narrative... I simply can’t get over how often Fletcher (Grant) steals every scene.Admittedly, it’s vs. Hunan (who I really like, just not a top tier actor imo)...Still, Fletcher is such a great “come back” role for Grant.Edit: fixed everything via /r/movies https://ift.tt/3jUlWus
