Passengers (2016) - was just watching with my kids and my son asked a pretty interesting question

Did the ship purposefully pick Jim to wake up? Out of 5000 passengers, it picked the guy that was mechanical/had an engineering background. The ship obviously had advanced AI, did it pick the most likely candidate to save itself?We talked about that theory for the rest of the movie, so I decided to check here and saw a few posts about the movie, but none about this idea specifically. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/MXfsbRu
