When the news that Seth MacFarlane would play Johann Krauss, the German scientist who is an ectoplasm inside an old fisherman suit in Hellboy 2 came out, people were all shaking their heads. You mean to tell me the dude who created Family Guy and other adult animated sitcoms and plays Peter Griffin, Stewie and Brian would play this bizarre character alongside Ron Perlman, Selma Blair and Doug Jones was such a weird choice, under the direction of Guillermo Del Toro nonetheless. And it worked absolutely excellently. His performance was funny and heartfelt, and he worked perfectly alongside Perlman, Blair and Jones, playing a character without a face, just with his amazing voice acting chops. Then I find out the role was originally going to be for Thomas Kretschmann, but he dropped out of it and del Toro choose Seth for the role.I'm still very baffled by this choice that seems completely random, but it paid off so well I couldn't see anyone else as Krauss. Like Del Toro's Hellboy films, the combination of these four completely different actors for the main characters only give the films more magic to me. To this day I think this is MacFarlane's best role. Are there similar examples you can think of what you would consider weird casting choices that paid of and worked great in the end? via /r/movies https://ift.tt/314E7sG

» Seth MacFarlane as Johann Krauss in Hellboy 2: The Golden Army is a case of a very weird casting that worked brillantly.
