The Breadwinner (2017): The tale of a young girl living in Kabul, Afghanistan during the reign of the Taliban

This movie has largely gone unnoticed despite winning many awards and being a contender for others. Angelina Jolie was one of the executive producers. The animation style is simple but beautifully unique. The story has a lot of depth and the harsh culture of the Taliban is depicted in full detail; unusual for an animation, but perfectly suitable for this one. The audio is beyond amazing, especially the ambience and background audio, adding so much detail and power to each scene and providing the immersion warranted. It seemed like a good time for a recommendation considering the recent events regarding the US evacuation of Kabul and the Taliban recapturing the city."In 2001, Afghanistan is under the control of the Taliban. When her father is captured, a determined young girl disguises herself as a boy in order to provide for her family." - IMDB via /r/movies https://ift.tt/3AIBZTU
