Osama (2003) is an excellent and heartbreaking film about life under the Taliban

This film was the first shot in Afghanistan after the initial fall of the Taliban. The story is about an illiterate 12 year old girl who poses as a boy to got to work to support her family. The film explores how badly sharia law affects the women that have to live under it. The film is very well acted and it’s ending is powerful and hits all that much harder with the fall of Afghanistan. It’s a hard film to watch given it’s content but I recommend it. If there are people that are unfamiliar with the Taliban, I feel like this film gives a visceral and sobering portrayal. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/2XFcvIX
