When I read the synopsis for this movie, I thought wow, I know we've had "shrinking people" movies before, but not quite with this realistic/dramatic narrative. It sounded really promising. And it did have it's moments.Overall though, the film was bogged down by a ridiculous and obnoxious romance subplot, which was time they could have spent exploring the more interesting aspects of the premise. The world is ending? People have the option to shrink down and reduce their footprint, or live underground? Show us more! I wanted to see more ramifications of downsizing, like accidents, animal attacks, how medical care changes, all the nuances of life are now micro-sized, and drastically different. I wanted to explore that world. It's so weird. It's like it was supposed to be a huge successful movie, but instead, nobody even talks about it or remembers it came out. It was utterly forgettable. The film just didn't take itself seriously, and it showed. The romance between him and the Vietnamese woman was so annoying, because it did nothing to move the plot of the movie along. Just awkward exposition between them."What kind fuck you give me?" 🤦♂️ via /r/movies https://ift.tt/37v50aa

» Downsizing, (starring Matt Damon) is the perfect example of a fresh, interesting concept, executed extremely poorly.
