Theatrical Release vs. Directors Cut

Hello everyone!Something that I've thought quite a bit about lately is the rare occurrence when a director's cut overshadows, and sometimes becomes more seminal than a theatrical release. The biggest example of this is Blade Runner. The original theatrical release is pretty much universally disliked and the director's cut is widely considered to be the true version of the film. Most director's cuts are often extra movie for fans to enjoy, or a chance for a filmmaker to share his extended version of the film. It's interesting that a subsequent release on home media, or even perhaps in theaters, can replace a films original theatrical release as the "true version" of a film. Almost rewriting film history. It will be interesting to see if success of the Snyder Cut could reshape the future of the DCEU.Are there any other director's cuts you can think of that have overshadowed an original theatrical release? via /r/movies https://ift.tt/3iYBD2P
