Top Gun is a bad movie and Maverick is a bad pilot and shit human being.

Let's just set aside the theme of 'Merica the best for a second. Maverick (Tom Cruise) is a horrible person in general, him and his RIO/Best friend (Anthony Edwards) are not even the best team in the squadron. They get the honorable mention to TOP GUN school because Maverick abandons his wing mate and decides to 1v1 me IRL instead of covering the lead plane. Ironically this is the only lesson learns in the entire movie but not without making the same mistake once more in his flight vs Viper and Jester.Maverick (probably picked his own callsign) routinely gets rewarded or excused for bad decision making throughout his career that would have had any one incident tossed out of the NAVY. High speed passes over an air traffic controller tower over active runways is probably the dumbest things an aviator can do. The air traffic controller is GOD as far as you are concerned as a pilot. Arranging landing and take off patterns is complex enough without some dipshit flying 400 mph 300ft off the ground. Fuck it, let's do it twice for the lolsMaverick gets excused for the accident that killed his best friend. I can only imagine he is found not at fault due to those on the court martial panel remembering/serving with Mavericks dad. He is 100% at fault for being in a bad position trying to steal points AND pulling nose up during an engine failure causing an unrecoverable flat spin.While we're on it, HOW the fuck does he have Goose's dog tags over his widow or their kid, then yeets it into the ocean?Finally earn that date with the new hottie you've been chasing through the women's bathroom?
