Stories are empathy machines. They are how we teach each other and ourselves to understand the feelings of someone whose experience is not our own. With that said, we as a mod team felt it went without saying that we stand with the Black Lives Matter movement and the countless victims the criminal justice system has created.Since this issue is so much bigger than this sub we took a moment to come up with ideas on how to offer more than just words. It seems the best place to start would be by offering donation links and recommending films or series that were made by or represent black voices. Here are some legitimate links we found useful in deciding where to donate:Minnesota Freedom FundBlack Visions CollectiveReclaim the BlockUnicorn RiotCampaign ZeroGeorge Floyd Memorial FundHere are some movie and documentary recommendations based on streaming service:NetflixHuluAmazon PrimeHBO Max13thSorry to Bother You4 Little GirlsThe Wire (series)Malcolm XDetroitChi-RaqThe Boondocks (series)MoonlightMonsters and MenMoonlightThe Loving StoryWhat Happened, Miss Simone? If Beale Street Could TalkFencesWatchmenDear White People (series)Toni Morrison: The Pieces Of MeA Century of Black CinemaMuhammad Ali: What's My Name Part 1 And Part 2Self Made: Inspired by the Life of Madam C.J.
