Are there any performances in movies that were otherwise mediocre to awful that were not only good or great but made you realize the actor was capable of more than they have shown in the past?I saw Bombshell recently and it was fine. It was basically a Made for HBO movie that somehow made its way into theaters. But Kate McKinnon was great. Not only was her character one of the more interesting characters in the film but her shtick, when doesn't usually translate well to film, was used sparingly and, when it was used, it was used well and she had plenty of moments where she got serious and she did a great job at being a serious actress. Just look at, well, any scene where she was talking to Margot Robbie.Hell I truly think she should've been nominated for a Golden Globe alongside Charlize Theron and Margot Robbie. Also Francesca Hayward in Cats. I had flat out never heard of her before Cats. But, as awful as Cats was, she's a good singer. I kinda hope the movie's failure doesn't prematurely kill her career though I know it's definitely not helping it either. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/35b8n1i
