Jackie Brown (1997) may not be Tarantino’s best movie but it doesn’t stop it from being probably the coolest movie I’ve ever seen.

I love this movie. I have such a soft spot for it and, even though I recognize that it may not be Tarantino’s best movie, it’s still my favorite of his. The characters, soundtrack, direction, and acting are perfect but the real champion of this movie is the writing though. I love that Jackie Brown is completely unlike anything else Tarantino has ever done. It’s nowhere near as violent and the story is pretty straightforward. The action exists for the most part in the dialogue and, since Tarantino writes dialogue like no one else, it makes for his most quiet but nonetheless entertaining film.I was so sad to hear of Robert Forster’s passing and I will always associate him with Max Cherry. His and Pam Grier’s chemistry is so natural and real. Since I’m sitting here watching this on Netflix for probably the 50th time in my life I just had to express my love for this constantly overlooked movie. I never hear people mention this film when talking about their favorite Tarantino movie and this has always made me sad. It’s 2 and a 1/2 hours of cool characters, cool music, and some great plot twists along the way.I learned not too long ago that Robert De Niro originally wanted Tarantino to give him the Max Cherry role. I’m so grateful that Tarantino stuck to his guns and gave it to Robert Forster. So many directors would’ve caved and given the big role to the movie star and not the character actor. Jackie Brown would not have been the same without Forster’s Max Cherry. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/2Kxp7bo
