As the title states I, a man, never understood what people were talking about when they said their arent enough female stories or movies written or directed BY females in Hollywood. I figured what did it matter if a woman had a huge part in a movie that was written and directed by a man? They were being represented and that was enough. Then I watched the 2017 Reese Witherspoon movie "Home Again". The movie was written and directed by Hallie Meyers-Shyer. In this movie, the 3 main male characters are some of the most poorly written, unrealistic male characters I have EVER seen in a movie. These (best friend) men interact with each other like no male friends on this earth do. They knock on Reese Witherspoons door platonically because "They just wanted to make sure you were ok".They are men that are created almost as if their creator has never interacted with a male before. I could not get through the full film, and was laughing at almost every word they spoke. These characters made me realize that this is most likely what women and minorities have been watching in Hollywood for years. Characters that resemble them physically, but do not act like them or anyone they know in any way, shape or form. That have been created by someone who is different than them.I get it! via /r/movies https://ift.tt/2rv1vO4
