The Riddick movies form a really weird franchise

Pitch Black - grounded action horror sci-fi with Aliens vibesThe Chronicles of Riddick - zany space opera with oriental Dune vibesDark Fury - an animated film that mostly riffs on cyberpunk animeEscape from Butcher Bay/Assault on Dark Athena - action shooter video games that are mostly congruent with Pitch BlackRiddick - a Wild West sci-fi survival movie with shades of Pitch Black that also tries to be a sequel to the ChroniclesThe only things all of these have in common is Riddick's character and the fact that they feature space bounty hunters of some sort. At this point you could probably make a Riddick movie set in the Star Wars universe, or the Alienverse or even the MCU without going particularly off-brand. I guess I'm just confused by how a series that never left the hands of its original creators (Vin Diesel, David Twohy and Jim Wheat) managed to be all over the map to such degree. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/2YbfMhT
