I don’t understand Disney’s approach to realism in The Lion King.

Why did they not make the animals express emotions like Rocket in the MCU?I recently saw a clip from the movie (Simba singing Hakuna Matata) and thought it was awful.Such a great voice cast and such tremendous technological marvel squandered by the lack of emotion exhibited on the animals’ faces. They absolutely have the technology to make the animals slightly more expressive. They nailed it in Guardians of the Galaxy with Rocket - a perfect blend between realism and creative freedom, without inflicting upon the uncanny valley.Instead, they decided to make everything look ultra realistic, resulting in some fairly awkward-looking lip syncing, especially when the animals sing. When a story involves talking lions, I don’t walk into a theatre expecting documentary-level realisms on the animals... via /r/movies https://ift.tt/2lJGWL1
