I don't think Chris Columbus gets enough credit for directing the first two Harry Potter films.

Before anyone jumps in to say he has had a great career and the first two films made a boat load of money, that's not what I mean. The Potter franchise has kind of been taken over by David Yates. And while he did a great job in films 5-8 (fantastic beast is alright) Columbus had the crazy job of establishing world building and getting everyone on board with this crazy wonderful story. I have always loved the set design of the first two films more than any other Potter film. Especially in the second film, I always found the set pieces of the Chamber of Secrets so amazing. It's also pretty crazy how true the first two films are to the books. Yes they are the shortest but we all know even short books can be unfaithful from book to screen. It's a shame we haven't seen much of Columbus after Potter. His track record hasn't been that great with 'I love you, Beth Cooper' 'Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief' and 'Pixles'. But this is also the man who directed films like 'Home Alone' and 'Mrs. Doubtfire'. I hope we get some more great films from him soon. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/2JBMvn7
