Samuel L Jackson has been in almost 200 movies and I can’t remember ever seeing him phone it in

I just got back from watching Captain Marvel and for me SLJ was the scene-stealer (yes, even more than the cat).Anyway it got me to thinking that he always seems to give his most to every performance in terms of energy, charisma and generally just being interesting to watch.Even when he’s in bad movies he’s usually the stand out and elevates them.While a lot of his recent roles seem to be as a supporting character, he has also been in meatier roles like in Django Unchained and The Hateful Eight (which I think was one of the best performances of his entire career).Anyway, for someone who works on multiple projects year in, year out it would be easy to lose passion and just generally wear yourself out, especially as he’s such a big name and would probably still get cast anyway.Just thought he deserved the praise. It’s easy to say he always plays the same character but it doesn’t change the fact that he’s always fun to watch, can hit the comedy notes, do action, drama, and has kept a very consistently high bar for his performances for a long time.Maybe I’ve forgotten/not seen films where he does phone it in, but I can honestly say he seems to give it his all in whatever I’ve seen him in, which is great considering his age and work output.Edit: words via /r/movies https://ift.tt/2F3iSd6
