Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room is absolutely infuriating *SPOILERS*

I just watched it the other day for the first time in roughly a decade, it is just terrible what Skilling and Lay and Fastow did to the average Joe who either owned stock or worked for the company. They knew for a long time that it was a delicate house of cards, that they were losing money hand over fist, yet were still encouraging people who likely had very little disposable income to continue buying Enronstock, all while they were cashing out their own positions. The only one who even received a remotely fair punishment was Skilling, who should be behind bars for even longer; Lay died suddenly before ever having to truly face the music, Fastow has been out of prison for years and "claims" he is reformed, and Lou Pai made off with hundreds of millions of dollars while facing zero consequences. It's just terribly sad to see how so many people lost their entire savings due to the greed of people who already had far more money than they could ever dream of. The part that sticks out the most was a line worker who didn't even work initially work for Enron, he was part of a west coast energy company that was bought out by Enron. He then had his stock converted to Enron's, and had over 300k in savings and ended up with roughly $1,000 after the Enron collapse, while he was also locked out of selling his stock for days while Enron was in the midst of bankruptcy and their stock had been made essentially worthless. Ugh, just terrible. Really goes to show the extent of human greed, and how people that on the surface seem like decent people are absolute monsters in reality. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/2Tfp7n5
