I'd heard from numerous friends and family members that Die Hard is one of, if not the, best action films of all time. I finally got around to watching it last night, and I must say, for however much it was hyped up to me, it delivered. The film is fantastic. What surprised me most was how excellent the script was. It drew extremely intelligent characters with clear motivations and characterizations. Perhaps most impressively was how it seemed every detail introduced in the script had a pay-off. Powell's story about shooting the kid? Paid off by him saving John at the end. Take your shoes off and make fists with your toes? Oops, now you have glass in your feet because you don't have shoes. Marriage problems causing your wife to go by her maiden name? Conceals her identity from an excellent thief, buying John more time. Every single detail was important and had a purpose. On top of the script, the practical action was refreshing and well executed. John Mcclane is one of the most awesome, relatably human action heroes ever. The fire hose jump was riveting. Alan Rickman is a legend. Everything was just pitch perfect. Die Hard freaking rocks. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/2Ec8Zd7
