So, yesterday Netflix buried the release of two "original movies", The World is Yours and Happy as Lazzaro, that could be amongst the best films of the year

We all know that Netflix always loves to release tons of stuff and sometimes some films or TV shows get almost dumped, but it's ridiculous to see what the streaming service did yesterday regarding two of their original movies that they bought earlier this year after the Cannes Film Festival.First, we have the release of Happy as Lazzaro, a fantastic and heartbreaking neorrealist Italian drama with a touch of magical realism written and directed by Alice Rohrwacher, who won Best Screenplay at Cannes for this movie, and the flashy support of Martin Scorsese as an executive producer. What promotion did it get? One trailer, three days before release. Nothing more. It was just like they hoped that the movie would be Italy's submission to the Oscars and they forgot about it after the country picked something else. And then, we have Romain Gavras' hilarious new movie, The World is Yours. Hey guys, do you like dramedies about inept criminals with a colorful cast of characters, like the early Guy Ritchie movies? Do you wanna see people like French heavyweights Vincent Cassel and Isabelle Adjani having fun in a movie about schemes and double-crosses? Well, somebody tell Netflix, because they didn't release a trailer, an announcement or anything. This movie, which is entertaining and can be easily enjoyed by people who hate subtitles, just got dropped and forgotten. So I'm doing Netflix's job for a couple of minutes to recommend both of these movies to you. They are unpredictable, they are human, they are a breath of fresh air. And the people who bought them apparently really hope that word-of-mouth will be able to save some bucks. One last thing: If you decide to see Happy as Lazzaro, go in knowing as little as possible. Trust me, it makes it so much better. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/2E6Pofp
