If Alfonso Cuaron wins the Oscar for Best Director this year, 5 out of the last 6 winners will be Mexican born filmmakers.

Roma is a great film, and already Cuaron is making Oscar Buzz because of this movie. The last 5 winners are Guillermo del Toro, Damian Chazelle, Alejandro Iñarritu (twice) and Cuaron. I don't have much to say about it, just that I'm proud of the work Mexican directors are doing. They continue to inspire lots of filmmakers here in Mexico. It feels like we're living in a second golden age. Even lesser known directors like Alonso Ruizpalacios and Michel Franco are putting out a lot of quality work.
