PSA for HBO MAX subscribers, DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT watch Patriots Day (2016) on HBO MAX. It is a censored, and EDITED cut.
I finally sat down to watch this with my dad, we’ve waited a while because we’re from the area and it was hard to make the choice to watch it, but we finally decided to.Sadly we didn’t realize something was really up until David Ortiz’ F-bomb was edited out.We then switched over to Amazon prime were the movie is also available for free, and skipped to the speech. He delivered it, uncensored.A click to the middle of the movie revealed the scene where the bombers friends discover bomb making materials. This scene was about a minute longer than the one we saw, with not only more profanity, but an entire discussion about the materials they found was completely missing from what we saw.I did more research and couldn’t find any hard evidence, then I compared the run time. The HBO run time was 25 minutes shorter than the Amazon one.I am certain this drastically impacted the experience and I’m sure what we got was not what the director intended. I hope this gets out and that the first time experience isn’t ruined for others like it was for us.The real thing that pisses me off is that HBO of all programming, censored and edited it. They’re supposed to be the one network that doesn’t do that, and allows almost anything from nudity to profanity and back again. I am very disappointed with HBO, and saddened that my first experience with the movie, as some one so close to the events, was tainted. Not really sure how to react, I’m a bit heated, so apologize for not being succinct, or really formal in my post. I just hope this gets seen so This otherwise solid movie isn’t spoiled for anyone else. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/335vyLO
I'm pretty sure Bloodsport (1988) is the most re-watchable movie ever made.
I've easily seen it 100 times and I still enjoy it like it's the first time every single time. It's one of those "Oh this is on streaming, guess I'm putting that on again."Actually, i think it's even better on multiple watches. I anticipate the best parts and get excited for them. Like "I wasn't going to steal it", or "Okay USA!"... and of course the look on that dude's face when he swaps the coins in his hand. Priceless.Am i the only one who unapologetically loves this movie so much? I quote it all the damn time. Best Van Damme movie for sure. Some more of my favorites:"I killed him Frankie! Yeah! Look at em! He's dead!""Bottom brick."And fight to survive is the best movie fight song outside of some Rocky tunes.I'll stop gushing now. I'll just say if you haven't seen it, you definitely should. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/3eIiJwo

Movies that you genuinely enjoyed, but went home to find out they were critically panned?
Anyone ever see a movie they felt was great, but went home and saw a bunch of people talking shit on it?This is has happened way too many times so I’ll name a few: Saving Silverman, Dreamcatcher, and John Q were among some I enjoyed but disliked by many. I thought they were decent when they came out but read about how bad they were later on.Critics don’t really have an impact on my perception of certain films, so I can’t really turn my back on my own personal opinion.I’d say the Star Wars prequel trilogy were the biggest victim in all of this.I remember being blown away by the epic ness and lore of those films, only to realize “REAL” Star Wars fans hated them.I always felt that was mega unfair as they had a lot going for them. If they thought THOSE films were terrible at the time, they had no clue what a major catastrophe would await them in the future...Anyone else have this same experience that they would like to share as well? via /r/movies https://ift.tt/3t0w9ZO
Remember when trailers had a five second trailer in front of them? I’m so glad this trend is dying down.
I recall a few years ago movie studios would place a five second trailer in front of the actual trailer. I was always confused as to why studios did this. We’re already watching a trailer, why do you have to add another small trailer at the beginning of the video? If you don’t know what I’m referring to, here’s an example:https://youtu.be/F4gJsKZvqE4 via /r/movies https://ift.tt/3t46vn9
Noticed another detail in The Prestige that I never caught before.
I re-watched The Prestige again and i noticed that the blind stagehand had a clone helping him. I guess I never fully realized it back when I first saw it because they're never standing next to each other but in the background of some shots and shots where they were doing different tasks were cut next to each other. For me this further cemented that Angier is the most demented and twisted person by the end of the film. Also his Lord Caldrow get up wasn't just rich cause of the 100 shows at the end. He was insanely rich because he just duplicated money. To be that obsessed that he even went as far as claiming Borden's daughter as his ward was just so sick.Re-watching the movie, knowing the twist is just mind-blowing. Every sentence has a double meaning and man it's so good. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/3eJxM9j
I'd like to give props to Hiroyuki Sanada for his portrayal of Scorpion
Scorpion is a character I never gave much of a shit about until the new Mortal Kombat movie, which I think is kinda decent, and despite his being 60, Sanada really did a great job in my opinion. He wasn't in it for THAT much, but when he did show up, he was really badass!I did not care much about Scorpion in the games, I thought he was just another MK character, but I totally get it now. He's a sympathetic character who has a rivalry with Sub-Zero and his clan, Sub-Zero obviously is a major antagonist. Not entirely sure how I didn't catch the whole rivalry in the games.... I didn't play the stories, but it was likely mentioned in the dialogue in the one on one fights. And that opening was fucked up, his family was just murdered Sub-Zero style and he was just feet away dealing with water buckets, and of course Scorpion got his ass kicked and was killed as well, because at the time he was only a human with skill and Sub-Zero is.....Sub-Zero.We better get more of Scorpion and Sub-Zero in the next few movies, assuming they even happen.Props to Hiroyuki Sanada for giving a badass Scorpion! via /r/movies https://ift.tt/3aMEtWR
